Is this an NOS fender? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Does anybody recognize the stamping in this fender? I was told by the seller that this was an NOS fender. The fender does not fit very well at all. The rear edge of the fender does not match the profile of the door very well.

no that is not an original gm, it is one onethe earlier aftermarkets made by gordon

You gotta be carelul how things are worded..is it NOS..yep.., but it's NOS Gordon...not NOS GM.

I was afraid of that. In my mind it's not NOS, it's New Old Junk. I guess that explains why the label was scraped off.

Mine either.....as in its NOS but Not New Old Stock GM.

Any opinions on how well Triplus repro fenders fit compared to Gordon?

Yep I got two of em one for each side! Your fun has just started if you got a Tri-plus core support and inner fenders. Now I know why they were only $100.00 apiece.

I tried one of those pieces on a past resto. The body line was off by almost 1 inch. Trade it for an oil filter or something useful and get a solid used fender.

Gordan N.O.S fit much better than tri plus crap.
Any repo is going to need a non of tweeking.

Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to find an original passenger side fender. They're all rusted out in the front from the battery. I guess the lesson to learn from this is that you should use a sealed battery like Optima makes on your restored truck.

Gordon were/are the worst fenders out there, I think they still make them. There aren't any comparisons to the new zinc triplus fenders. NOS GM fenders can reqiure tweaking. We have had several people try to get good used and nos fenders both to line up and then ordered one of our triplus fenders, and have it bolt in place without any tweaking. I'm not saying every case is like that, but the triplus zinc fenders that came out about 2 years ago have had great reviews/results.

Can't beat the price of $150 the Triplus fender either. Sure beats paying out the nose for an NOS fender that needs tweaking and doesn't have the zinc plating. I'll probably trash my Gordon fender and go for the Triplus. Thanks for the info everybody.
