Ok...WTF, I was at one of the local yards (woodies for all the locals) and saw a little P chassis step truck. I went over to it and started looking for odd parts or anything worth keeping, wasn't much there. When I stepped back to look at the whole thing one more time, I saw COILS in the back!
Bigger than sh!t, this sucker had 6 lug w/drums all around, and a trailing arm rear end. Anyone ever seen such an animal?

Before you ask...I had forgotten to bring the digi cam with me.

Are you talking about the little step vans that are common for locksmith or ice cream trucks? If so I have a 71 chevy step van with trailing arms and coils. It has an 104 inch wheel base, 5 on 5 wheels and discs. on the side it has a bowtie with a 10

I made up P/10....maybe it was a real designation...maybe not.
The P/30 is a forward control chassis built by GM. (it used to be anyways) If you look at a lot of the large step vans... Frito Lay, DHL, the police swat truck...those are P/30s. (asuming you are picturing a GM and not a ford one) Grummen built a lot of bodys onto the P/30 chassis.

Longhair, go to woodies out there on junk yard road, they have one all the way to the right, about 1/2 way back where the minivans start. It is black and has some custom crap painted on the hood.
I don't think Ohio will let anyone purchase a vehicle out of a yard (That's what Cantlys told me 15 years ago when i had a great running Citation that I broke in 1/2 anyways) but it's still neet for lookin at and maybe getting some info off of maybe?

I always wanted one,too.Only GM makes their own StepVans(tm)since at least the 60s.And,only they ever made these pocitos.Get it?StepVan/StepSide...COOL!

At work we have a customer that has a 50,000 mile old 1968 P/30 with single rear wheels. We've been thinking of getting it off of them (they hardly use it at all) and making it into a delivery vehicle for the rad shop. Boss man was talking about a 2/4 inch drop, some 5 lug stuff thrown under there and torque thrusts, a set of flow masters and a cam.
I tell him is nuckin futs....but hey...it's his money.

I also like these old vans, don't know much about them.
Like "olden days" posted his 71 104" wheel base model. Q:What engines did they have?
Where can info on them be found ?
There is a guy here in my town that built a Willys Postal van lowered it put in a blown 350 Chevy with no engine cover.Ill try to find some pics for you.

That one I have came with a 250 I6. I am not advertising it yet but that van I posted is for sale. It hasnt been started in a looong time. Since the frame looks so much the same and the wheel base is 104 I think it might be built on a 2wd blazer frame, but I dont know that for a fact.
