Pics of 67-72 w/ no rain gutters anyone???
Hey guys...
Does anyone have any pics of a truck with shaved rain gutters? I just joined a few days ago and it's awesome to see all this enthusiasm over these trucks. I thought I was the only one who was into my truck like this!!! Also, what about windshield treatments...I just read somewhere on a post about someone "glueing" in a windshield? What does that look like? Does that mean flushmount? Any pics available on that? You guys are getting me all pumped up to start on my truck. I pick up a free 69' chevy this weekend. All I need is the chassis so I'm going to sell the sheetmetal on ebay. It's no cherry, but maybe someone on here might be interested in parts. It'll be cheap. I'll put an ebay link in the parts message board. Thanks in advance! Josh

Welcome Josh! Working on these truck can be addicting. Glueing in the glass just gives the trucks a more "modern" look since you don't have to use the ugly monster rubber seal. Here is a quick pic of a truck with shaved gutters.
Well I was going to show it but its too big - I'll work on that

And I believe Classic Trucks magazine has a burb in it this month, with shaved drip rails, and it's chopped as well. TJ

Wow...
Looks pretty sharp. I'm going to seriously consider this on my truck...and glueing in the windshield. Does anyone sell a kit to glue in a windshield? I just ordered a bunch of catalogs.

On that last picture of the black truck...what did they do to the wheel openings? Did they add extra flare?
Maybe it's just me. It is a monday.

Sorry, I can't remember anything about the picture or where I got it. I'm pretty sure it has some custom body work here and there. The pic might have been edited a little too, the wheels look a little funny to me. It might even be some kind of rendering of this truck before it was complete...
BTW, how long have you been in Champaign? I went to college at UIUC a few years ago. I was looking at your profile and it look's like we're almost exactly the same age and into harley's and dirt bikes... Where do you find a place to ride offroad in the incredibly flat Champaign area? |

I grew up in Champaign till I was 18. I went to school at SIU and graduated in May 99. I 've been here since.
There isn't much to ride on here unless you know of a private place. There are a few of those but it's generally worth a drive if you want to ride all day. We go to Casey and ride there, or the MX track at Wapella. Casey is by far, the best. Grooming twice a week on the track and about 300 acres to ride on. My roommate is pretty serious about his racing. He placed 7th in his series last year but is having a hard time this year. When he's racing, I don't really have anyone to playride with and at this time of year, all of the tracks are busy anyway. Plus with the street rod nationals and frog follies coming up, I'm usually in the garage. Are you still in the area?

I work about 60 miles south of champaign in effingham, and live another 30 miles east in vandalia. I used to ride/race hare scrambles and gp's in Casey. They have a great park and staff over there, I really miss riding there. After college I didn't have anyone to ride with or much time to ride so I sold my bike and haven't riden since 99. I really want to get back into riding but at this point I might have to wait until my 6-month old son can ride, maybe when he's 3!!!! Until then I guess I'll stick to cruising the streets with the wife...

Randy...nice looking cars and bikes on your site. The pop-up advertising is a pain...but the site is cool. I have to figure out how to make my own. Here is a pic of my bike...I just painted it myself about 2 months ago. House of Kolor cobalt blue with 2 shades of ghost flames in the base and metalflake in the first 2 coats of candy. It's a blast to ride.
I'm getting some negatives printed and put on disk so I can send out a few pics of my 68 Chevy Truck. Guff...yeah, I raced a couple of hare scrambles there too. I did a "season" of scrambles and beat myself and the bike up pretty good. But Casey is the funnest. Where do you work in Effingham? I had a recruiter from Fedders(?) call me some time ago. I have a couple friends who have lake houses there on Lake Sara. I love that area.

And here's the most recent street rod. This is pop's car. Kandy apple red. Soon to have flames once the hood is done.

Sweet rides!!! That first black truck that Guff posted was profiled in a truck mag last year I think. It looks exactly like it if not. Same wheels and all. Quite possibly the nicest 67-72 I have evr seen!!!! ................JB

It's not a full custom...meaning I didn't build it from scratch. But I did everything except for the motor work. I just bought a wide tire swingarm but am going to wait till winter to do it and space out the primary.
Thanks for the compliments...I love riding it. I took first place 3 weeks ago in the custom class at a bike show. I drummed up about 5 or 6 paint jobs for winter....hoping to make some cash to fund some of my other projects.

I was wondering about rain leaking in the glasses without the chanel to deflect most of it away. Late model have a wheather strip that goes across the top inside the door for this purpose, is this nessary after this modifcation?
