Question SPICER / DANA 44 Service Manual??

Does anybody have a Spicer/Dana 44 Factory service manual from around 1972?? This manual is about 25 pages (two sides each), and gives step by step details for all types of R&R and service for the Front and Rear Dana 44.

If you have one of these or know where to get one, please respond.

I am willing to pay for a copy of the pages.

Thanks,

Might actually have one. I'll look and let you know. How's the project coming?

Thumbs up

Gerry,
its coming along slowly. The front axle has really slowed me down because of a couple of issues: #1. the sandblaster guy took out my tube plugs and blew sand into the front diff. causing me to have to remove everything, clean out the sand and slop, (BIG JOB), and replace all of the internal and external seals and so forth. Finding parts for a 1971 Dana 44 has been a chore. #2. the front axle parts were not in the best shape overall and I am replacing most of the 'wear' items, ($$$$).

The rear axle has basically been opened up, inspected, cleaned, all drum hardware taken off and replaced with a custom disk brake setup. I'll probably replace all of the hub bearings front and rear while I'm at this point.

Waiting on the new springs still, once they come in it will motivate me to get these axles back together and on the truck.

Thanks for looking for that manual, let me know what you find please,

Question

AmericanRider,
I clicked on that link and got this message: 404 Error, Could Not Find Page.

Is there another way to reach this info?

Thanks,

What are you needing to know. I am doing my front axle also and everything that I needed was in the 10-20-30 series overhaul manual or service manual.

Exclamation

nu2-72,
I'm deep into this Dana 44, everything that could come apart IS apart. I would just feel more comfortable having the factory diagrams, 'blowups', and specifications to guide me with the re-assembly of all the parts. Spindle assembly, hubs, locking hubs, axles, pinion assembly, carrier assembly, all seals, calipers, everything is apart. (I want to become a Dana 'Guru'. )

So......, who out there is willing to copy one of these babys for me?? Who has an extra one stashed in the book cabinet that they will sell?

Thanks,
72longbed

Just go to Pirate4x4.com, look into the tech section, it's there.

Phil
Looked, I have a "no spin differential" brochure, not Dana. There's info in the Motor repair manual as well as the 10-20-30 series overhaul manual. That's all I used when I changed my front axles. Sorry, good Luck. I get that same error 404 on Pirate 4x4.com.

Like I said, Mine is into every possible piece right now. I have all NOS to go back into it. Everything is in the factory books and all the vendors sell them pretty reasonable or Ebay.
