As far as rust-free, a few years back I had one that took the cake. I had a request on the stovebolt board to look over an AD burb that was advertised as rust-free. I went armed with a camcorder and camera. Every panel on the truck had rust holes, from the front fenders to the barn doors. Floor had some holes covered with tin. Included on the deal was a pile of sheet metal the owner had collected over the years to repair the rusted out sections, hence it was "rust-free". It was also supposed to run, but it didn't even qualify for "it ran when I parked it". The carburetor was on the floorboard with an extremely dusty air cleaner on top of the intake manifold. To top the whole deal off it turned out the guy didn't own the truck, he had it and about 20 other old vehicles titled to his business which was being sold. After the lawyers finished with him he ended up filing for bankruptcy. I was real surprised he didn't end up in jail.

Here are some of the greatest bone-headed car deals in my family:

* My dad TRADED IN a 1965 Pontiac LeMans for a 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix.
* My great aunt TRADED IN her 1957 Ford Thunderbird for a 1967 Mercury Cougar.
* My dad sold his mint 1-owner 1967 C10 in 1987 for $1000.

At least in hindsight they realized their mistakes...

I love it when people list crap in the paper and you call em on it and drive way the hell in to no mans land to look at a rust free truck with so much bondo holding the sheet metal together that it should be a full size plastic model kit and not the remains of a steel truck that once was.... wtf are some people thinking???

I went to the swap-meet in Moultrie and this guy had a pro-street 69 w/a beautiful paint job, blown engine, nice interior, etc. Well, I look behind the seat and I see a bunch of asphalt! The bottom of the cab was just about completely rusted out. They wanted like $18K for the truck. I couldn't believe my eyes and when I asked he said if you want it, it will cost you $18K. He was serious too!

Aren't all Blazers "K"/5? even the 2wd models were designated that way weren't they?

I'm not doubting your story...but I don't think the K helps you as evidence.

They were all badged as K/5...but all pick ups were badged as C/what ever.
The VIN does go by c or k on the blazers....but most ppl have no clue.

Longhair, A "K" in the vin means it is 4wd.

Yeah, all Blazers have a fender emblem that says K/5 and chevy even calls them K/5 2wd's. This all helps add to the confusion...

But if the vin number has a "k" in it, it was originally a 4wd...

Another clue is the frame on a 2wd is bowed outward above the rearend and a 4wd is straight rails above the rearend.

I have had to correct a few idiots on a local car website and tell them that the truck they are trying to sell is not a 67-72,but 73 or newer.
I did take a nice drive one day to look at a firebird that RAN GOOD but needed some work,did not start,1 front tire was pointed straight and the other was trying to turn right,It's still in the local paper for sale 5 months later,I wonder how many people that guy has pissed off?
I told a guy last week that the camaro he was selling was not an IROC,iroc's did not come with V6s,he still reposted a few days later as an iroc

The one I like the most is (IT HAS A CORVETTE ENGINE IN IT),there must be alot of vettes out there without engines.

I like the "95%rust-free"claims.If the rockers & door bottoms are gone,fist-sized holes in the cab corners & r/f fender under the battery,the leading edge of the hood & bottom of the tailgate has holes,the seam at the kick panels & w/s are rusted,cad supports holey,the bedsides peppered with holes,and over the wheelwells have holes,that would be about 5% of the truck. Then there`s the 95% restored.I`ve walked away saying,"that`s a BIG 5% Dude."
