I'm not too familiar with A/C but i think i am talking about the evapourator here. It the piece that bolts on the firewall, not in front of the rad. Anyway I am rebuilding the truck with factory A/C and want to have the core pressure tested to make sure the core doesn't leak when I get the A/C hooked up. I need to know how much pressure the core should be tested at. It is a local rad shop and the man does work on A/C much, but I didn't know where I could get it tested so I took it there. Thanks

I checked my manual for test pressures and could not come up with any. I did run across a chart of temperature vs pressure and at 102 f condenser temperature the pressure was 285 psi.

I can check with my AC guy tomorrow if no one else comes up with the test pressure.

Jim, thanks for the help, It'll be greatly appreciated. Also would i have better luck trying a auto dealership to test the core? The Rad shop can only do 50 PSI.

I talked to the guy that has pressure tested evaporators and he uses 50 psi shop air. In addition he inspects them very carefully for signs of oil as a leak will leave oil residue.

I think that what he does is pretty adequate as he has tested several of mine and I have not had any problems.

I will try the AC site tomorrow to see if they have any recommendations over and above the above method.
