Is it safe
to take the top off of my Blazer? Will I be able to get it back on? What are some good options for a soft top?

Specialty Top Co and Bestop both make soft tops. Your sig says "RUST BUCKET" - How much rust are we talking? Are the rocker boxes and windshield solid? If you take it off and can't get it back on, you can always buy a soft top then (be warned, it takes about 6 to 8 weeks for the specialty Top co tops to arrive after you order it.) You could weld a cage in place to maintain the rigidity of the body and then take the top off.

I take my top off and my doors rattle when I hit bumps. I have no rocker boxes, and my doors close hard. The top goes back on without any problem.
As far as being 'safe', just don't roll it! Paul

I had a 71 rust bucket, took off the top and the drivers door was very hard to close. After further inspection I found the body mount behind both doors were rusted out and the rubber mounts were almost completely gone. I just used the passenger door to get in and out until I put the top back on. Didn't keep that Blazer to long after I found all the rust and bondo in it. I learned what to look for before I bought my current 72 CST Blazer. It is rock soild but I had to shim the passenger door latch so it won't bind when it is closed. B.B,

I had a 69 in 1980 that we had to set a jack under the panels every fall to get the bolts back in. I sure had a ball in that old rust bucket. Found a picture of it and scanner isn't working. Will post when I can. Moodyholler
