Rear swaybar with bags?
how would a rear swaybar work with bags in the back and a super track bar. i've searched around a bit on the forum and havn' really found much...
could someone point me in the right direction or just give me some info on this... basicly im just woried that i will lose vertical travel with it... thanks

I have Super Trak bar, and rear sway bar c-notch and bags. 7" of lift with firestone bags.

If properly set up, a sway bar shouldn't limit your travel, the only thing you wont be able to do is throw the truck side to side, (I guess you could, but it would be limited by the sway bar) which it doesn't sonud like you are interested in? Probably more performance oriented.

I've never had my rear sway off, but I go side to side with mine, it may limit it though. I'll take pics. It's snowing like a bad dog outside, might go snow plow!

Interesting... You were correct in assuming that I'm not interested in side to side travel. I want the rear end level and able to move up and down. so then i might just pick one of those up then... ECE has one i know that looks farily simple to set up... any recomendations on products? Also, i probably will put a fuel cell in the back inbetween the frames... would the sway bar, or its componets mess with that?

where did you say you go that setup from 7t7? it might of been easy to install, but it sure looks complex to me... anyway, i'll take a look at it...
im still not sold on the rear swaybar working with bags... heres what im thinking. When i want to lower the frame, the track bar pushes the axel to the side a little bit. Well, if the swaybar, is used to prevent movement in the rear, doesn't it act against the track bar and prevent me from lowering? maybe im missing something here.... does anyone have a technical reason for why it DOES work. my mechanical engineer mind woudl appreciate it. Also, that camaro setup looks pretty good too.

Geometericly it's not perfect. But it works. The sway bar gives a bit due to bushings. I'll try to get a good picture of mine. It's a basic common set-up.

so its ok to rely on the bushings to give you travel...??? i guess i should wait to see the pics before i cast judgement haha. thx for the help.

If you have a super track bar and it is set up right you should have very little side to side movement over your entire airbag range. Beside a sway bar does not prevent side to side movement thats not what it is supposed to do. It is made to effectivley increase sping rate in a corner while giving a nice ride while in a straight line.

right!
neon larry is correct.a swaybar or anti-swaybar, when all is setup correctly should move relatively freely when both wheels on the axle move up & down.just as it does on any auto/truck.it only offers resistance to movement when one wheel goes up while the other goes down.like when you corner.
the track bars' sole purpose in life is to maintain the rear axle in a centered position relative to the chassis without affecting other suspension functions. a swaybar & track bar can easily co-exist. |

since i started this post, im going to steer it in a bit of a diff direction.... steer.. yah its a punn. :-)
I have a coolride with tube A arms up front... what front sway bar will work with that?

I don't think you'll even need a rear sway bar as long as you have a 4-way system and install a front bar. All your weight is up front anyway (cab and engine/trans). A rear bar might help out on a blazer, but I think you'l be okay without a rear bar on a truck. Well, unless you add a salt/sand spreader on the back

The tubular arms from AirRide require the use of an aftermarket bar that uses 'end-links' instead of factory truck bushings that capture the bar end.
End link mounted sway-bars are more common to cars & newer trucks. I would call AirRide for their recommendation or check out Helwig or Addco.

Sway bar w/ ART's control arms
I just purchased the StrongArm set-up from ART for my '72. They recommend a PST front sway-bar for a '72 that DID NOT have a stock sway bar. Called PST last week and ordered it. You might want to confirm with the order taker that the one you order has end links.
By the way, I have 1" ECE front springs and an ECE sway bar up for sale.
