Ramhorn Question

I know that the non 4x4s get the angled dump ramhorns and that the 4x4s get the straight dump. My question is why?

Location of the engine, and frame/crossmember.
Remember that the 4X4 has the engine further back. If they used the straight dump manifolds, it'd run the pipe directly into something.

are all straight dump manifolds the same? I have a 2wd and straight dumpers, and the engine is even a 350 on the 6 cyl mounts (thus farther back), nothing hits...

I6 position slides you sb back 3 1/2" from factory spot.....nothing is a clearance prob , except the dist the straight dumps (same as the car manifolds from the same era)......will fit on a sb in factory spot, but trust this crazy old man on this. YOU WILL CUSS ,when you try to get the nuts started on the studs! Been there, done that! Once you slide that eng back 3 1/2", there are no issues on the straight dumps ....... L
