Just clean it up and spray away. Paint it whatever color you think would look good, but I have seen a couple that were painted gloss black and I think they looked great, better than the stock grayish color. I guess it would depend on the color of the truck too....the ones I saw black were on red trucks.

I would scuff with a red scotch brite. Then use some kind of adhesive promoter (sand in a can). Then use a good quality spray paint.

I just did mine, I simply washed it and sprayed with a semi gloss engine enamel (its what i had). Then once that was dry I took a silver paint pen and hit all the correct silver lines. It looks good but I havent got a clue how long it will last.

I appreciate all the suggestions . I have one more question. My truck is a 70 c/10 step painted hugger orange with the white top. What color would you recommend the grill to be (black, Hugger, Silver, etc.)? Also The grill is semi painted silver just on the front side how would I keep from getting paint in the louvers or does it matter ?

I would spray the silver first them mask it off with some 1/8" fine line masking tape. Then spray the black you may have to spary the front and back to get the paint all of the way through the louvers.
