What axle do I have?
This is a question that I post on the 60-66 board and got two different answers. I'm pretty sure it is applicable here because I think the axle carried over into 67-72 year trucks. I have a 66 C-30 dually. The pumpkin is round with a fill plug below the center point and off to one side. It has ten bolts on the cover. Two bolts on each side are close together where the axle housing head out toward the wheels. The question is what axle is it?

That looks exactly like mine. I've been wondering myself. Can anyone tell me what would the stock ratio be for that? I have a 72 C-30 Custom Camper.

After further research, I probably have the HO52. Still, that 4.11 really hurts on the highway.

Yes, that is the one I have under my truck. Funny this doesn't show up on coloradok5 website under the axle identification page or maybe it does and I'm to stupid to know it. Is this axle also referred to as a corporate 10 bolt? What does the HO in the designator mean? The 72 I understand from the factory manual. 7200# rated axle/differential. Thanks for the help.

The Corporate 10 bolt is a semi-floater used mainly in cars & half-ton trucks. It also refers to the front axle of half-ton 4WDs.
As for the H072, it's a Regular Production Option code. The 072 you already know; the H designates "Rear Axle & Suspension Equipment" (same as G).

The "eaton" axle is a corporate axle, spanned from 47-72, it was replaced by what is refered to as the 14 bolt full floater (14BFF). It would not be a 10 bolt as it has 12 bolts holding the carrier to the ring gear.
