Ran into the original owner yesterday...
I ran into the original owner on a jobsite yesterday. He reconized me right away and wanted to know how the truck was. He's a nice old guy, so I told him it was in many pieces and told him my plan for it. When I mentioned that I was looking for a transmission for it(3spd to 4spd conversion) he told me the the trans and rearend in my truck were out of a 72. What would have been the difference in the 69 rearend and trans? Anyway he wants to see it when it's finished and he's going to look to see if he has any pics of the truck when it was new. That would be cool
p.s. if I can get my digital camera to work I'll post some pics of my progress. |

THe tranny is probably the same, but the '72 rear should be 5 lug, (instead of 6 lug) and it is like 1 1/2 inches wder now too.
Was your 69 converted to 5 lug with discs? |

Yeah the original owner converted to disc brakes up front, I guess he changed the rearend st the same time. He also said that my rims were off a corvette, but I've never seen a corvette with these rims as stock.

Onless they are unilug (slotted lugnut holes) it is impossable.
No vette ever had those as stock, but if they are unilug, they coulda been added. But really, who gives a flying breakerbar....it looks awsome. |

longhornmail, that's what I said when I first saw it,"that looks awesome". The main reason I was asking about the rims is that 3 of them have the crossed flags on them and I want to find another for the third.

Cool.
Of course, I know if I ever run into my pickup's original owner, we've got problems...he's my late grandfather. :P It'd be cool, but not given the circumstances it'd have to be under.

thats funny. i ran into the previous owner of my truck and i told him about the good luck ive had with the truck, and how reliable its been. he said that he regretted selling it. but on the bright side he has a blazer tank conversion kit and an extra radiator he is going to sell to me.

That's cool to be able to keep in touch with the original owner.
