nifty trick. is that on the FAQ board?

I remember putting a clutch in my 4 speed with my dad when it was still his truck. I was 10. We did it on a gravel driveway with a piece of plywood to lay on. Ah, memories. . .

I just did the whole deal on my truck 2 weeks ago. Mine is lowered and we just popped the front up on jack stands and crawled under. I had to get the flywheel resurfaced too, sent it to Precision Machine (i think that was the name) it cost $40 to get it done. I have done it before as well, and one thing you will need is a buddy, without a doubt. I say this just for the re-installing of the tranny itself...although it is not very heavy, after 5 minutes of trying to wiggle it that last little inch your arms will be jelly. That stud trick should help alot, we meant to do that, but when it came time we had forgotten to get the studs...still, I think a buddy is a good idea

I wish this was true, but I'm painfully aware that it doesn't work with the SM465 4-spd. Oh, yeah - it slides on well enough...but the case widens behind the mounting ears and you can't get the @#$&! guide bolts out!

Had to pull the tranny back down and do it the hard way.

Some of those transmission bolts got hid on the inside of the bellhousing occasionally, so if you can't find the bottom ones...
