Same here, just threw mine away today. Makes it easy to decide to go with the clean look :p I just don't know the tricks of getting it off the right way. I got one piece off with almost no damage and that's because I slid my sawzall blade behind it and cut the studs off

I haven't tried the outside trim yet, but I know the cheesy looking chrome headliner trim in the cab didn't come out without breaking every single tab on it.

My truck is a huge Bondobeast so I'm just keeping with the theme to fill those holes. If I was properly equipped I'd probably end up doing some welding and grinding - not sure how the pro's do it

Im not sure how well this will work on these but on other cars where the trim is hold on by plastic clips I use a sharpened scraper and just cut the plastic clips and buy new ones. This is a really good trick for the 2nd gen f-body window trim. Most people just mangle it, mine has no dents at all . Much easier to spend $5 on new clips.

If you are welding them shut, take a copper bar and sandwich it between some wood and put it behind the hole and use it to weld against. You could put a piece of cardboard behind to bondo them and just leave it.

There are helpfull tips to removing trim undamaged on my website. I remove it by pushing it strait down toward the ground, then pulling the bottom free from the clips. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Trim
The trim I have is in good shape for a complete long bed. Top and bottom peices. I had no trouble taking it off. The nuts on the inside of the doors and others came right off. If anyone is interested in it I can try and take some pics later on in the week

trim
Headliner trim..... I literally took the air chisel and cut the ceiling out of a rotten cab to get the trim and headliner out without doing any damage. The clips get so brittle even pinching them from the back side causes them to break.... Find nos trim... or throw it all away and glue your headliner in.....

I took all the trim (upper/lower/tailgate/eyebrows/emblems) off my truck and I didn't mess up a single piece. It's not that hard, it just takes a lot of patience. Click here to see how I did it.
I also got the headliner trim out without breaking the tabs but I wasn't worried about it because a lot of the chrome plating was gone and it needed replacing anyway. I bought reproduction trim from Chevy Duty for $99.95. As far as I can tell it's identical to the original in look and fit. I don't see how you could not use the chrome trim with an original headliner without the tab holes showing. Whether you use the trim or not, you still have to glue the headliner to the top of the cab to keep it from sagging in he middle.
