Rochester 2G Rebuild - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am at a standstill on rebuilding my carb. The OE carb number tag is no longer attached. The only number I have found on the carb is stamped under the fuel bowl. 7035027. But, this number does not show up as an OE carb number. At least no where I have found.

NAPA needs the OE carb number to make sure I get the right rebuild kit. But this number did not show up in any of thier carb listings. LMC sells a "carb repair kit" for the 2G that is not for specific OE carb numbers. But I don't know if it is a complete rebuild kit, or not.

Any suggestions? Past experiences? I would prefer to try this myself, to gain experience with the truck and to save a little $ for other projects on the beater. But, I might have to go the reman route, (for almost 10 times the cash!),

My past experience with "remanufactured" carbs has not been very good. A professionally rebuilt original carb is much better, & usually cheaper. Yours seems not to be original, but if it worked well at one time, I'd say get it fixed. A local shop rebuilt my friend's 2G a couple of years ago for under $100, including parts (& he had to chase down the parts

that IS a good rochester #. (for a '73)
starting in '79 the numbers began with a "1" making them 8 digits. prior they were 7 digits. try another parts store, the kits are pretty much the same wherevere you go.

I know there is 2 different kits... one for the 2g's and a different one for the 2gv's.. on the instructions there should be pics of the different carbs they work on... the gv's diaphram is at an angle and needs a different kit. I dont know what the differences are but just went thru this trying to find a rebuild kit for my 69 307.. ebay' got new ones for cheap (not rebuilt) I will get the sellers name for ya
