78 is back, and it needs a hood

Well, due to ALOT of things happening right now in life [getting married, buying a place to live in WAY overpriced phoenix etc.] my plans for vehicles has changed. To the relief of many, Im not getting my 87-93 GT 'stang yet. Instead, the motor, carb, eibach springs, doestch tech shocks, 1 1/4" sway bar and sterio from the 79 are coming out and going in the 78, and the 78 will be my daily driver. The 79 will get a cheap motor [anyone got a running cheap small block in phoenix? old crappy 305 maybe?], cheap cd player and 6x9's, the summit drop springs and toxic shocks from the 78, and be sold as-is to pay off bills.

Anyways, Im getting the 78 ready for action, and one thing it really needs is a hood. Since I have a reproduction mopar six pack hood scoop [fiberglass] on the current hood I want a fiberglass replacment hood so I can blend the two together to look like one piece. U.S bodysource wants $500+ for a stock hood, thats insane. Where can I get a resonably priced one?

Tom, I don't know about fiberglass but AIM in mesa has a scratch and dent section of steel cowl hoods, $175 or so.

i wouldnt buy anything from AIM. quality of everything i've ever seen from them sucks, and their customer service sucks even more. i'd like to know why they're still in business.

look for Advantage Fiberglass on the internet. by far the best quality 'glass hoods i've ever seen, and they're significantly cheaper than the competition.

Awsome chris! Glad to hear it.

As for AIM, while their customer service does indeed suck, quality is somthing I can bug them about since they are about 10min away. My roll pan is from them and it was good quality, but thats all I've ever bought from them.

If steel is all I can get, is it possable to blend a fiberglass scoop into a steel hood to make it look like 1 piece?

It may be possible, but I don't know how long it will stay that way.

The advantage Fiberglass place I know of only sells cowl hoods. http://www.advantagefiberglass.net/

that's the same Advantage Fiberglass. they're about 2 hours from here, so i dont have to pay shipping. :p i'd much rather pick up than have one shipped anyways. i think my UPS and FedEx delivery drivers are mad at me. they beat up every box before they deliver it.

went to a swap meet about 2 years ago, and they had a relly nice display set up there. looked around some of the other places as well as the show area, and saw several different manufacturers offerings in the 'glass hood department. i remember seeing a Harwood, an older A&A, a Cervinis (great customer service), and a US Body Source hood elsewhere. the Advantage hood blew them all out of the water as far as quality. they're a pretty small shop i guess, so the hoods arent mass produced like other manufacturers. i think this may be the reason for the better quality.
