Let the dumb questions begin

I need some help, and I know this is the place to come. I need to know what this is and where is it supposed to be mounted. Also, if this is some sort of ground could that be why my headlights don't work?

another:

and one more dumb one. What is this? mounted on pass side inner fender, between battery and fender?

Thanks in advance
Jake

That's supposed to be bolted to the inside of your passenger side fender, just above and towards the cab from your battery.

in that first pic there is the black wire coming from the part in question. it has a "bell" on the end. this is a fuseholder. look for a similar wire near the batt at the end of the "gutter". it should be like a 20A fuse in there. IIRC this circuit feeds the headlight switch.

No, that feeds the gauge that registers battery charge/discharge. It has nothing to do with headlights. If it were me, I'd look at the dimmer switch as a possible culprit. It tends to get corroded over time and is many time the reason headlights don't work. I would trouble shoot by testing to see if you have power at the dimmer, then work forward from there. On thing I do tedt the switch is to bypass it with a jumper. If the jumper makes the headlights work, you know your dimmer switch needs to be replaced.

I replaced the pass. side fender and radiator support on this truck and the headlights were working before that. I think I may have just left something disconnected or broke a fuse or something simple like that. I got the wiring schematics looking at them, so I should have this problem fixed in a couple of days. Hopefully, anyway.

Thanks again
Jake

the ground for the headlights is near the voltage regulator on the drivers side, back side of the rad support, usually attached to one of its mounting screws....good luck
