Where to buy this connector? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I would like to replace my old ignition wire at the firewall bulkhead/block with a new one. I'd like to replace it with a new connector instead of bending out the new one. This one won't fit very well around the 12-gauge stranded wire I'm using and I don't want to solder it.

Anyone know where a person could find this exact connector locally?

When I got into the connector situation when doing my TPI, I simply cut the wire that was already on the connector off about a half inch back, stripped all of the insulation off, then pushed the new heavy gauge wire overtop of the thinner wire & soldered it like that. I then put some small shrink wrap overtop of the whole connector, and voila, I had my heavier gauge connector

Worked good, and looked good.

MAD has those if you can't find them locally. Also if you are going to be running enuogh current through that to need 12gauge wire it should be soldered.

I also saw those at Autozone yesterday. But not sure of the intended wire gauge.

The ones I saw at Autozone were pricey. They were 14-16.

Chickenwing's got it right and I think they are part of the "Packard" system. Here's what I found on the American Autowire website www.americanautowire.com

The contacts for wire sizes 20-14 AWG are the "series 56" contacts (1/4")
male part number - 500096 qty of 10 for $3
female part number - 500095 qty of 10 for $3
On the smaller wire gauges, strip 2X the normal length and fold the wire back on top of itself.

I believe the 10-12 AWG contacts are "series 59" contacts (5/16") and are pretty tough to find.
female part - 500186 qty of 10 for $3
male version - ??? anyone know???
I use a Radio Shack uninsulated terminal crimper that I modified to make it "thinner" so it would not bend the contact while crimping the wire portion. And always give it a good "pull test" after crimping to ensure the crimp is solid.

Glad to help! If anyone knows where to get the "series 59" male contacts, I would love to have a source. I'm getting tired of re-using the old ones with solder and heat shrink.
