Another Sway Bar Question
I was strolling through the wrecking yard and came across a 68 chevy with the factory sway bar on it. I had the rivits cut off the brackets and took everything home. Here is my question. The 4 bushings are marked as the stock diameter 1 1/16" but they seem to have a small gap once installed on the bar. They seem to be in pretty good shape, but I will replace them anyway. Do the bushings have to be completely tight around the sway bar or are they supposed to have a gap to allow the bar to pivot slightly? Thanks!!

Tight. Being loose just allows that much more body roll before the sway bar starts doing its job.

Your new ones should be tight.It is hard to tell how old the used ones are.The rubber wears and shrinks with age.
