2wd and 4wd steering box differences???
NAPA shows that a power steering box for a 2wd is different than a 4wd. The only difference I can see between the two is that 4wd gear box is able to turn 1/8 of a turn more. What would happen if you mounted a 2wd gear box on to a 4wd truck? Anybody ever done this...any problems???

My 4X4 steering box, the arm moves front to back and contols the driverside tire, with a link to the pass. tire.
My 2X4 steering box, the arm moves left to right and controls the pass side tire, with a link to the drivers tire.

The only difference I am aware of is the pitman arm, and how it is positioned.

the steering boxes have splined hub that the arm attaches to. on that splined hub, there is a large spline. it is in different places on my 4X4 vs my 2X4

this is the reason I was asking:new 2wd gear box
Since I have a 4wd, it doesn't sound like I will be able to use it. They are $100+ new. |
