Question:D60/14bolt under`72 K20

What exactly is required to install these CUCV axles under my`72 K/20?When I order my lift(4 spring packs),I`ll ask for u-bolts for these axles.I`ll need to relocate the rearward shock mount to front on the 14bolt.What about u-joints?Also,can I just hook-up the drag-link to the steering arm?

They more or less bolt in. The steering arm bolts right up. Axle mounting pads on the 14 bolt are the right width, but check the angle. Mine needed 4 degree shims to get the pinion angle right. E-brake cables can usually can be swapped, I swapped from a 12 bolt and the cables went in the 14 bolt backing plates like they were made for them. The ujoint is a cross over type, any decent parts store ( ie not autozone) should be able to look it up and most will have it on the shelf.

I cut both shock mounts off the cucv rear axle and after some grinding, rewelded them on the front side of the axle in the same place as the stock 72 mounts. There was something else different about the shock bolt sizes, I dont remember the exact numbers but the 1 ton axles use a larger bolt than a 1/2 ton, had to get different sleeves for the inside of the shock bushings.

One other potential problem is that the dana 60 must be considerably longer from axle centerline to ujoint than my old dana 44 because the front driveshaft barely has enough movement left in the slip joint. Shouldnt be a problem with a lift, but wouldnt work if you were at stock height

Thanks, bud.I`m going with 6"lift(Tuff Country). What lift do you have? What application rear shocks did you use?Sounds like you used the original application and changed the bushings.
