Anyone ever try using these as rear disc plates? They are from a later model Dana 44 front. Our years have the tin dust shield and "V" shaped backing plate.
These bad boys are 1/4" solid steel all the way around.
Rob, these are the plates I was talking about. Found several of them so I picked up all of them. Think I will play with them and see what I can do.

Mudder i believe uses backing plates with spacers.
I used to on mine till.. You know...The name in my sig, changed me..

I have a 14 bolt.

I have spacers for those to adapt to a 14 bolt, but you have to enlarge the center hole and put 4 1/2'' holes in the plate to the 14 bolt pattern

To use the Dana 44 backing plates on a 14 Bolt for a disc conversion you need an adapter like this one.

Truckstuff, does that spacer fir the backing plate that I have shown or is it for the plate from our years? Or will it work for both?

The backing plates I have are from a 71 - 75 3/4T Dana 44 HD and look like the ones you show. I don't think it matters what style as long as they are 3/4T Dana 44

14 bolt rears have lots of options for rear disc, now if you can adapt those for the 12 bolt I would be in line for a set.

I think there were 4 or 5 different outer flange's between cars, trucks and different years. I'll see if I can dig up the specs for our year of trucks with the 6 lug rear.

I can spec it and make something up. With this rain I won't be in the fields for awhile. Got all my greenfields planted just in time. Not so lucky with the other place.
