Temp sensor problem
Does it make any difference where the temp sensor is located? Moved mine from head to intake when I changed heads. Had it fired for the first time today and the temp guage needle goes all the way to the left the the engine geets warmed up. Engine doesn't seem too hot and the antifreeze isn't steaming and boiling out.

Did you use your old sender or install a new one? If it is a new one odds are the parts store gave you one for the idiot lights not the gauge style.

It's the old sender. That's why I'm confused.

Hmm! Let me think on that. How is the ground? With it running run a wire to the battery - post to the base of the sender and see if it makes any differance if not then check the wire going to the sender it may have a few broken wires in it and is putting up too much resistance. Other than that I don't have a clue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.

If it is a stock gauge shouldn't it go all the way to the right ? Did it work before? Did you use teflon tape on threads? If you did it will not be grounded so the gauge should read all the way to the left as you said.
