Does anybody company/person sell a complete kit (every thing needed including pitman arms, link, brackets, etc) to convert a 68 1/2 ton to power steering. I would like to buy a complete setup so I don't have to try to chase down misc. individual parts. Thanks.

I've seen several for sale on the forum from other forumgoers. I have one of them on the way as we speak (hope for it to arrive this week) and there were two available. I'll let you know how it goes.

what is a link bracket? I just changed the power steering arm / pitman arm and put a pump on.... maybee i forgot something... doh

Consider a power steering conversion kit from Rez Engineering up in Great Falls, MT. Rez sells complete pwr steering kits. I just found out about Rez in January. He dabbles in all Chevys, but has an inventory and catalog that specializes in 60-72 Chevy & GMC trucks.

I came to find out he designed the original power steering conversion kits that several companies now copy cat. Several 60-72 vendors sell his power steering conversion brackets. I found proof. The article below speaks to Rez's 60-66 conversion.

But for your 68 1/2 ton 2wd?, no need for gearbox brackets. The power steering gear Rez supplies bolts right to your frame. From Rez Engineering's catalog:

1. Steering gear, variable 3.5-3.75 turns lock to lock.
2. Pitman arm.
3. Rag collar (New rag installed in joint with correct splines)
4. Hardware (all new bolts, nuts, washers, cotter pins, etc).
5. Correct style pump (mounts down low on drivers side with V8)
6. Correct hoses (flared ends).
7. You use your 2wd drag link.

Give him a call, M-F, 8-5 MST, @406-727-9267. He's very informative. I'm not an employee, though when I make the trip to his locale, I do get a small walk in discount that all walk-in Montana "locals" get. While I would recommend Rez to anyone, I recommend Rez to you because Power Steering Conversions for Chevy/GMC trucks is his specialty. Good hunting.

Interesting article, I didn't realize the boxes were different lengths and you would have to shorten the steering arm. Didn't seem like much of a hassle though.

Just ordered a kit from rez engineering. He sold the complete kit at a resonable price that includes everything needed. Thanks for the info.

The kit for the 68 was 485.00, and includes everything to bolt right in.
