Which Nuts To use for swaybar install - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am about to do a sway bar install on my 68 1/2 ton and I need to go shopping for the nuts.bolts and washers. I was told grade 8 bolts but I cant find any grade 8 nuts, lock nuts or washers. Can you use grade 5 or grade 2?

go to Orchard Supplys Harware store(OSH), they'll have grade 8 bolts. That is where I picked up 99% of my bolts for Britney.

Got the grade 8 bolts but what about the nuts and lock washers? All that they has was grade 2.

the little plastic bags seem to hide the juice in them. Also, sometimes you got to dig through the boxes cause not all there items are open for public viewing like they should be, and don't be afraid to dig stuff out if you have too.

I see your local... I go to the Sunnyvale OSH and they have them. My first job was at OSH... Ahh the memories..

Check the yellow pages for local fastener stores. They have all of the grade 8 stuff, unlike normal hardware stores

Our local ACE just put in a selection of nuts and bolts thats unreal, They have it ALL

www.boltdepot.com has a pretty cool site too. I had to order a few special sizes for another project once...

OSH is where I go. Look for some nylocs or some type that won't loosen. Jam it if you need to.
