This is what I was suggesting in another thread:
Find a way to relocate your air controls. Mount your head unit in the box for the air controls. No cutting involved. I finally found pictures of an example (I didn't think it was possible before):

Are the air controls mounted to the radio block off plate or the dash?
I'm assuming the block off plate due no shaft holes in the picture.

i was thinking the same thing. It would be awesome if someone made ac controls with reostat (sp) knobs that fit the factory radio opening kinda like on most newer cars. I know its not possible with the stock ac/heat set up but could be engineered to do so on a aftermarket set up.

I might look into trying it when I get my drivetrain where i want it. gotta try to get power steering in this weekend if the package makes it. trying to get small 3-way gauge cluster for oil, tach and water in the truck too. Trying to find time to go fishing @ Lake Oconee this weekend also. Bass should be hitting the beds pretty soon, great time to chuck plastic worms around the docks
