power brake swap ????
i just swapped my manual brake master cylinder out of my 74 and replaced it with a booster and master cylinder out of a 77 Silverado. When i went to reconnect my brake liines i notices that i had to reverse the position of the flared lines from forward to rear on the master cylinder in order for the flare nuts to match sizes... is this something to be concerned about with my proportioning valve, or can i leave it alone and be ok???? im finding more and more differences from the 73-76 trucks and the 77-80 trucks than i had thought... any comments????

Hi Mike ,
the problem by reversing the lines is that the braking sequence will not be as it should be. On a normal braking system , when you push on the pedal , the front brake pads will commence to brake only when the brake shoes on the RR axle are set against the drums and so , when the pressure is overall set , the four wheels will brake at the same time ... I have no real experience with that , but I guess the way you want to put your lines will change the way your truck handles , it might jeopardize your security ( only the front disks will brake , for instance... ) the better way to go , to me , is to switch the lines on the master but also on the proportioning valve ( should be the same thread on that one ... ) , so the system and the different pressures applied on the brakes will be the same Just my 02 cents... Cheers the Baron PS : if you survive your road experiment , tell us , if you don't , tell us either

I Have Done Some Brake Swapping Also And The Best Easiest Answer I Found Was An Adjustable Proportioning Valve ( Jegs And Baer Both Have Them) Check These Out See If They Might Help
