Anyone ever do this to their blazer ? I have Rhino Liner from the firewall back to the tailgate. Should I just lay it right on top or is an adhesive needed ? I would not recommend a kit from "The Truck Shop", very low grade and cheap looking. Good thing the seats will hide most of it.

Too bad Diane isn't still around. She did the liner and then put carpet down on top of it. I don't know if she used adhesive, but I think she had a sound deadener between the carpet and the liner/floor.

I don't know if you would be able to find one or not but when the blazers came with carpet/rubber mat they had a black rubber mat with ridges on one side tha fit into the grooves of the bed and gave a nice rubber surface for you carpet to sit on it was just held down by the carpet strips. I know because my 71 that I got from original owner had one. My 70 was missing it I got a set of the mats from a used parts guy. The other risk you run using adhesive is this. I am not super familar with the rhino liners etc. Being a painting contractor this much I do know new paint/adhesive will bring old paint closer to it. What that means is I run into situations all the time where you have a layer of paint that is not truly adhered. It is adhered enough that a scraper will not bring it off and when you sand it it doesn't just decentgrate on contact. Put a new layer of paint on it and come back in a day/month etc and it will be bubbling and peeling. You might glue that carpet down and decide to change it and some of the rhino liner might come with the carpet.

There were two of those rubber matts originally in the blazers, one installed in the front of the bed and the 2nd was in the back.
They were drain matts to let the water out I guess. (they knew, didn't they)

I wouldn't use adhesive ever...
The carpet lays down fine with time and the sill plates do the rest.
I've had several trucks that were a complete PITA when it came to getting the stuff off the floor surface for repairs or repaint.

On top of Rhino liner, why bother? When it gets wet, just pull out the carpet and let both the tub and the carpet air dry.

Since carpet hold down strips are so rare, has anyone found something similar that functions ok ?

Carpet hold down strip from home depot is close to the one orginial that has the small angle on it. The other original strip is a smaller version of the metal strips that cover the seams on a wood floor bed

Diane used adhievise and closed cell foam inbetween the carpet and the bed liner..
