Just another wheel/tire/drop question:

Will rear 15x10s (4" bs) w/ 295/60/15 and front 15x7s w/ 225/75/15 work with a 3/5 drop?

This will be going on a '77 stepside

I don't believe the rear wheels will fit. They will probably rub on the fender lip. You'll need another 1" - 1 1/2" of backspacing to clear the fender lip. On the front, it depends on your backspacing. A 4" backspace on 15x7s should work.

The wheels and tires will work fine, my 78' stepside has roughly a 6/7 drop and I am running a 295/50 on a 15x10" wheel with 4" backspacing in the rear and 265/50's on a 15x8" wheel. If you need pictures there are a few of my brown stepside floating around, I believe the topic is under this section of the board somewhere. I also had a white 86' stepside with a 4" drop all the way around and I ran the same wheels and backspacing but with 275/60's on the rear and 255/60's onthe front....there are no rubbing issues on either of them.

Thanks for the correction. Do you know if the rear fender lips are 'rolled' on a stepside or are stepsides just a bit wider than the fleetsides? I need a 5" BS on a 10 wide wheel to fit within the fenders of my fleetside.

boxrodz, I don't believe stepside are any wider body wise than a SWB, and I would find it a little strange that you need a 5" backspacing...how low is your truck? I guess another question would be are you talking about fitting within the fenderwells or just fitting within the imaginary line between the fenderlip and the ground? I know that if my truck went any lower, like even an inch that the rear tires would be scraping the wheel lips going around corners and probably hitting part of the innder fender over a bump or something.

Me too. I have 20x10's w/5" back spacing that's perfect w/my flip kit + shackles (7"). No fenderlip worries & no rubbing on the inside of the tub either.

I'm still working on my drop. Yeah, I was referring to tucking within the fenderwells not only at ride height but also during suspension travel. I figured a 5" BS would better eliminate any chance of bwright's wheels rubbing on the fenderlip of his Stepside during suspension travel (or if he decided to go lower in the future

). Pics can be deceiving, but in one of your Stepside pics, it looked like the sidewalls of the rear wheels are in very 'close' alignment to the inside of the fenderlips. I follow you regarding the rubbing issues. Maybe, your plan to someday get new wheels will eliminate that.

I agree that the Stepsides and the Fleetsides are probably the same width. - Thanks

boxrodz, I currently have no rubbing issues but yes the tires are close the fenderlips, I'd have to measure but my guess is that they are 3/4". I just mentioned that if or when I go lower (with air) that my wheels and tires might not work that well if I wanted to lay it all down. My Blazers rear wheel which I think the fenderwells on the blazers might be bigger, but its a 10" with 4 1/2" back spacing....It sits in the fenderwell a little more than the rear wheel on my stepside so I guess I can see what you guys are wanting.

lol, I wonder if we answered all of bwrights questions......

Update:
I ended up with 15x10 (4" bs) with 295/50/15's on the rear....I haven't got the flip kit on (or purchased), but they won't tuck. It appears close enough that if I roll the inner lip they may tuck. But with just 5" it won't have to tuck anyhow.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll try to get some pics soon.
