Engine Id?
I am going to look at a truck tomorrow and not sure what engine is in it.
It is a 68 3/4 ton manual chevy so not quite sure what was stock or even if it is original all I know is that it is a v8 Is there a quick way to tell difference (visually no numbers) 283-307-327-350 never had any v8 smaller than 350 so not sure what the differences are visually Thanks solver

Hmm quick look without knowing what to look for..well guess if it's a 2bbl its a 307...283 not likely in 68. Look at the harmonic balancer....memorise the 8 inch size of the 350 one. 4bbl and a oil fill tube more than likely a 327...but 307 looks similar if someone changed intake and put 4bbl on it. Check the glove box and see if it had any option for a motor..if no option listed but its a v8 then original motor to come in that truck if v8 was a 307.
