Bucket seats restoration...

Well picked up a pair of factory buckets for the '70 from "eighthd" over the weekend. Nice guy and always good to meet fellow board members.

Well I want to redo these and want to see what kind of options are out there. What covers and foam kits has anyone used? Prices?

Has anyone just taken their seats in and left it to the shop to do them up?

Any pictures?

I am in the middle of the same thing now. I spoke with a guy last week who does upholstry on hot rods & aircraft ect. I explained to him how much the foam seat buns were for our trucks. He figured, that would be the way to go. He said "by the time you paid someone by the hour to fab. up a new set that it would be very close". If my lower foams were in better shape I am sure I could just recover them but they are not very good. "Mothertruckers" has about the best price I have seen on the foams.

Hope that helps

refurbush bucket seats

Don't know how far south you are in Calif. but there is a shop in Ocean Beach, CA. called strangely enough, Ocean Beach Upholstry. Their
work is absolutely FIRST CLASS!!! They could make those seats look
like the day they were built. The prices are reasonable considering the
quality of work performed. A few years back I had them stitch-up a
complete interior in my Mercedes coupe and it still looks great. Also,
they don't use "kits", everything is stitched-up by hand.
