WTB - (4) 68 C20 chrome hub caps

I need these for a stock Longhorn restoration. The brochure shows red bowtie on the caps.

67-8 are the same cap with different paint schemes...BUT 1/2T and 3/4T caps are different on the back...and you must have the original wheels with the metal clips attached...but, you probably already know that.

Frank, The bottom hub cap looks like the one in the '68 brochure. Is it the 3/4 ton? I was not aware that the wheels had metal clips to hold the caps in place. Do you know the option number on those hub caps? Do you have a set of stock 3/4 ton wheels?

Yes...No...No
I think I have the caps, not the wheels...and I think all of the wheels with the clips were split rims.

Frank, I was just checking in my 1967 Service Manual and it says that the tube type split rims were an option. The 1968 Chevy truck brochure lists Disc Wheels as standard at 5.25-inch wide with a 7-17.5-inch tubeless tire. Optional tires were tubeless (which I thought were split rims). This is all very confusing and will take some time to sort out.

As I mentioned on the phone there was nothing listed on the glove box door option list for tires. There was one option without a description 04Z62HG. I am not sure what that is.

Mark...you got home in fine shape and without any incidents, I hope! Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate your efforts and still feel like I owe you!

Yes, I think you are right. I just pulled the seat and found the two build sheets in the springs. The tires from the Fremont factory were:
Front 750 x 16 x 6
Rear 750 x 16 x 8
Spare 750 x 16 x 8

The spare is still a 750 x 16 x 8 so I am assuming that they were not split rims. The wheels 16-inch and the correct body color so I am assuming that they were never changed and are the stock wheels. The option sheet says chrome hub caps instead of wheel covers so I am assuming the full wheel covers only came with the CST option.

Thanks again for your help...I love my new Longhorn!

Rene, Everyone has already seen pics of the Longhorn last year when Mark acquired it. I will post in a couple of weeks when I get some work done on it to refresh everyone's mind about it. Mark got this 50th from his neighbor and we worked out a trade my 689 GMC short fleetside for his Longhorn. My son hates me since he is not into "LONG" trucks but that's life!

My photoshop program expired so I cannot resize pics any longer.

Question

Just to make things more confusing.... I have aquired over the years, these 67-68 Chevy 3/4- 1 ton single rear wheel truck wheels with tires:

3- 17.5"x 5.25"-----for sale---(I have no use for these).
2- 16.5"x 6.75"
2- 16.5"x 8.25"
4- 16.5"x 9.75"

All of these wheels are NONE split rims/ tubeless tires and all have the clips to hold the hubcaps on them. Strange thing though....my 1968 book doesn't show that the 16.5"x 9.75" was an option.....but I removed a set of 2 from a 1968 C30 Longhorn (rear tires)that they originally came from?? I guess you cant alway trust GM literature!

Hope this helps

69oldie, My 1968 Chevrolet truck brochure shows C20 options of 17.5, 16.5, 19.5, 16 and 17 inch rims! I have to be honest and say that I have never heard of 17.5 or 19.5 inch rims! In the C30 line they add an 18 inch rim in addition to all the others. You are right about the 9.75-16.5. Mine shows 9.5 and 10-16.5's so go figure.

My build sheet tells the story for my truck but I am still trying to figure out the hub caps/wheel covers. Maybe with Mark's and Frank's help I will figure the out what option "PO3 Chrome Hub Caps" are. That is what came on my Longhorn.

GARY 70 JIMMY,
Are you talking about the size of your tire or the size of your wheel?....because it is different. Look on the the wheel itself and see if you can find the size. Mine is stamped on the wheel itself and has a date code as well. 16.5x10.5 is an odd wheel size .
Let me know.
Thanks
Jim "69oldie"
