about to get it running

i noticed a few weeks back when i was taking my ugly rear bumper off that my gas tank was smashed on one side. when i took it off it was so varnished over that it looked like syrup. it was really coming out of the gas line that is connected to the bottom of the sending unit. i found another tank and plan on putting it in this weekend. my question is what else do i need to replace before i try to fire it up? i was thinking that the fuel pump would need to be repaced. is there a fuel filter between the gas line and fuel pump? i going to try and clean the entire gas line out to. what is the best way to do this?
