Lightbulb Future Project (Anyone Done Something Similar?)

I plan on building myself the ultimate SUV and have the following plans. I want to do this once and do it right, here is the plan.

1961 Chevy Suburban (Killer body lines, nothing else will work for me)
1984-1987 Chevy K20 frame, axles, xfer
383HT GM Crate Engine
700R4 Trany with a stage 1 build
32" or 33" Rubber on classic Steel spokes (Not to agressive will be onroad more than off)
If need, slight lift to give it the right stance.
Hopefully a 14B FF (Did these come on K20's? Several I've looked at have 14B SF)
Disc brakes all around
Interior made comfortable - latemodel truck or van seats
Vintage Air

Planning to tow, plow, haul, & carry all needed for a family of 4, playing & working in all 4 seasons.

Sounds like a great plan. I got a 14b FF from a 78 3/4 ton for my K5. If you do this project take and post plenty of progress pics.

They came under 1 tons as well, but not dually pickups (those had Dana 70HD's).

Whereabouts in Ohio are you from? I am about 15 minutes out of Akron.

Oh, and welcome to the board! Sounds like a sweet project. Have any pics so far?

Nope, don't even have the donor vehicles yet.
I'm planning for the project to start after my wife is out of school, (May 06) I'm keeping my eyes open for a good K20 to start with.

I'm in Napoleon right now, and don't even currently have a truck. Had to sell my K5 when we moved, not very economical to drive 75 miles one way to work at 6 MPG.

I wish I had known you were looking. I came across a clean 64 panel on a 3/4 4x4 chassis, built small block, Dana 44/14bff, Orange and black, looked like a pumpkin, but it was CLEAN. It was in central NE. I had thought of taking a picture of it and posting it here, but I never got around to it. Good luck with your project.
