Opinions on buying this truck
I BOUGHT IT WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!
I get a call from the service manager of our north store saying, there is a guy who brought in a '72 PU thats knocking... Customer wants to get rid of it too. I call him up and see what he's asking and get a few details on it. He says he's willing to take $1000.00 cash for it. Seems high to me given the fact that the engine is trashed. Although I went back up there today and took a few pics so I could really give it a once over, It's got a tilt column... "BOING" lol. I threw all the pics on a page, would some of ya'll mind giving your opinion as to whether this thing is worth 1k. Thanks guys! http://www.zkast.com/piston/72chevy.htm Last edited by Zkast; 07-30-2002 at 08:29 AM. |

Link didn't work for me, but from the one pic it looks like it's in decent shape, and the wheels are worth a little. Sounds like a good price to me, although I would definately start out offering less, since it sounds as if he doesn't care enough to fix it.

IMO that's worth around half that. There may be some rust you don't see. If it was in running condition it'd be a $1,000.00-$1,200.00 truck.

The part I have trouble with is, I turn wrenches for a living so its a daily routine for me to put another block in. I tend to knock off to little for the bad engine part. I Knew I shouldnt have gone back over there today lol... I didnt know it had a tilt column till today. Now I want it bad!!

If it's not a big deal to swap in an engine, offer him 750 cash, if he doesn't take it, walk. I agree with Tom though, it looks like it's worth about 500 bucks with a roached engine.

Worth a $1,000? HE** yeah! I've seen several around here go for twice that with no motor at all! But it does have an A/C cab and tilt with automatic and a motor. Just a couple of months ago I saw a 72' LWB 4x4 with no motor or front clip and no interior go for $2,750.00 in like just 3 weeks time!! As far as the rust goes can you stick a cat through the cab corners? I can on one of mine! I would get it if I had the money and it was closer!

truck
I know if the cab is in decent shape and the truck has not been butchered, then it is worth that in Texas for sure.

lol ya its mine but, this was today when the shop was closed. No idea where the owner was. I just ran up and grabbed the keys and had a look at it.
Think I'll make an offer tomorrow night and see how things go. Just what I need... another project. |
