anyone wired newer doors into an older cab?
I have a 77 p/u with power windows and locks.. well I have 84 power doors on it... the drivers side hooks up and works fine.. I have to hot-wire the passenger door to make the window roll up or down... is there any way to make that stuff work or is there nothing thats going to be easier than replacing the cab harness??
hoping someone has been there, done that... PC |

believe it or not, your not alone...
i have an '84 cab w/ '81-87 doors... on a '75 frame! i put a painless wiring kit in and painless doesn't give you but 4 wires for power door options... so, i used the factory power wiring harness. for me, you plug in the connections at each door and the harness runs to the power lock relay, and then you have a ground, and 2 power wires at the fuse box... i guess i'm confused... do you not have connections for the passenger door? |

I don't know if this information is correct or relevant, but this guy says that power windows from the 70s are wired different from the ones made in the 80s. Look at the bottom of the page...
