Ignition Switch Help
Hi,
This may sound like a trivial question to some of you but i'm looking for information on how to remove the ignition switch on my '72 Custom/10. I started to remove it and the trim ring on the outside of the dash seemed to seperate somewhat from the rest of the unit, however it just spins Am I nuts? Or is there a trick to dissasembling the unit? Please Help! Thanks, Andre |

Hey!
Ya have to remove the cylinder first. Do you have a key for it? If you do, put the key in, and a small paper clip in the small hole. While holding the paper clip in, you turn the key, I forgot which position, and then the cylinder will come out! If, you don't have a key, then you will have to drill out the cylinder first. |

Good luck and welcome to the board from Seattle. I have only had luck with one out of four cylinder locks. When they get old and corroded or whatever happens in there they are tough to remove. I have never found it as easy as the book says.

Another welcome from Seattle. Please fill out your profile when you get a chance - A board member may live just around the corner from you, with the parts or help you need.
It is a common issue. I think most of us have run into the same problem (one of the first questions I asked on the board!).
