Is there a difference between the 67-68 auto columns compared to the 69-72's? I'm converting my wifes '69 from a 4-speed to an auto and might have a good line on a 67-68 column.

The 67-70 columns used the same shift indicators and pointers, but the 71-72 style was different. I think they were taller and the indicator was made of plastic instead of chrome.

They should fit 67-72. You will need to do somthing with the netural saftey switch. The reverse light switch should be the same thought.

The 67/68 columns usually had a 1 piece shaft also, but you can use the shaft out of the other column if you like.

Personally I would stay away from the one piece shaft style from 67. If you're in a bad crash that crumples the front of the truck, I can picture the column pinning your head against the back wall of the cab.

I'm not totally sure, but I think the shifter lever on an automatic column was a little bit narrower where it is pinned in on the eariler columns.
