My Fuel Gauge Don't Work
I did a body swap putting a 70 model body on my 72 model chasis. I put the fuel tank from the 72 and also the gauge cluster. Before the swap the gauge worked perfect. Now, the gauge reads almost a 1/4 turn low. I know the wire is not broken. The only difference is the wiring harness plug-in on the 70 body had a total of 11 contacts,( 6 on top, 5 on bottom) the 72 has a total of 12 ( 6 on top, 6 on bottom) I cant figure this one out.

The harness is still a 1970 harness, right?
Was it a dummy light cab or acc guages cab? |

if it is still the dummy light harness, you probably already fried the fuel guage.
They were not wired the same. When i did this, the needle on the fuel guage spun around a few times and gave up the ghost in a puff of smoke. My buddy found it funny...I was less than amused. |

A real long dowel or stick works well as a kinda dip stick... You just have to member to check it though...
I was just funning, but unfortunately as a GA resident, I have witnessed it... but it was dodge, what can i say... |

use a clean broom stick, less chance of somethign falling off the stick, and it is long enough to reach the bottom of the tank.
Like I said...been there....done that. |
