Rear sway bar pic for 4x4 3/4 ton and 1 ton 2wd

Thought I'd show what a rear sway bar and how it hooks up to a leaf spring lower spring bracket...it's a rare piece. The frame bracket little clips aren't shown...but they just hook to the bottom of the frame rail....almost look like the front sway bar style hanging bracket. There are brackets that mount to the bottom of leaf spring brackets...which the bar slides into rubber bushing in those brackets.

Got digging into a stash of parts I had.

Factory rear sway bars were available on 73 and newer trucks.
I have mostly seen them on 1 ton Camper Specials.
I have never seen a factory installed on 67-72, but I haven't seen everything...

If you look in the service manuals you will see that rear sway bars were available on P30 Forward Control models, I'm looking for one if anyone happens to find one.

Good stuff...but is it the same width ..might be since its a dually. And how did it mount to the axle....the axle ubolt brackets are a different style.

If, on a 67-72 4x4, one uses 73up u-bolt plates (top of spring pack) with appropriate u-bolts (wrap under axle), would the 78 1 ton dually ubolt plates/brackets work to affix the ends of the 78 swaybar to the axle? Leaving only the fabbing of frame mounting brackets?

Talking Rear sway bar

Rod, I got one to it came off a 72 P30 Motor Home Chassis. That thing was a boat it had everything kitchen sink, bathroom, the works. It also had a weird brake system with a assist stuff on the frame. Does anyone make a urthane bushings for this set-up?

Wouldn't generic poly sway bar bushings work? Like from Energy Suspension:
End link bushings
Frame bushings

When you get into the rear diff that has the ten bolt wheel stud pattern your talking the H110 differential. Those diffs had an assist brake sysytem that had vacuum pods mounted to the frame rails on each side. There is one like that about 30 miles from me and about once a year I go see him...I'll try to rememeber to take pics next time I go there. Its a 72 (I think), but it is 1 ton dually 157 inch wheel base with 6.17 geared rear end ratio.

The sway bar I posted a pic of in the beginning of the thread is 1 inch.

Pickmup ..that sway bar you installed.....is it on a dually rear diff housing even though on a 3/4 ton? The bottom mounting purchase is what I am asking about or are they there on some diffs. Or did you have that welded on?

The sway bar came off a 1 ton 2wd (but, same one is also on my 79 dually).
I put it on my 70 GMC 3/4T single wheel truck.
The rear brackets, under the diff bolt on and are held by the ubolts.
The frame brackets, at the front of the bar, are bed mounts off one of our truck frames...welded on.

Brewski, I'm leary of the *Fast, Easy "Bolt-On" installation* claim. The pic shows nothing, the sales pitch makes no mention of the fact that most 4x4 67-72s don't have swaybar mount locations on the frame or the axle/u-bolt plates, and Bolt-on is in both bold and italics. Makes me think of over-emphasized air quotes.

Like you say the pic shows nothing, the sales pitch makes no mention of the fact that most 4x4 67-72s don't have swaybar mount locations on the frame or the axle. But these are HELLWIG products http://www.hellwigproducts.com/antis...tic4x4_gm.html which have been around forever and have been OEM on most Big Rigs and with 1 & 1/8" bars they should be rock solid in the corners. I have e-mailed HELLWIG directly and ask for the BOLT ON installation instructions. I will start another post when I get some.

"Bolt on" package. I do need to know how they bolt on as there are no stock

I read it that it does not fit the rear. But they have a front kit.
