Gas guage quit

When I started the truck this morning the needle for the gas guage went to enpty and it stays there. I put in a new sending unit eight months ago. Checked the sending unit wire and it is connected at the tank and the fuse box. All fuses look ok.The guage has always read 1/4 tank too much.
Thanks for any clues.

Sounds like the sending wire is shorting out somewhere.
