WTB: big block clutch pivot bracket

Good afternoon. I need some help with my conversion to a manual tranny. I'm looking for a big block clutch pivot bracket...the one that mounts on the motor side. I'm converting my BB truck over to an sm465 and that's the last part that I need. Let me know the $$$. Thanks for the help !!

I have a small block bracket too but the oil sender is in the way on my 402, does it have to be shimmed in the aft hole to work? Please send me an E-mail if you can so that I can sort it out. Thanks, Hot Rod

The origional block would have had only one hole to screw in the oil presure tube.
Only the 4 bolt main blocks had two holes drilled & tapped.
I believe the origional fitting screwed into the hole & the 1/8 tube fitting screwed into it at a 45 degree angle.
These fittings are avallable from Long Island Corvette Supply (#390hp 427 engine)

Request Follow-up If Possible

BB72B,

I am in the same boat as you. I already have a sb bracket that I borrowed from one of my other trucks, and the problem lies in the oil sender on the bb. The spacing on the holes is the same,5 1/8 inches but the sender hole boss keeps you from being able to bolt it on the bb. In talking to Rick,(midyearvet) I have discovered that his is a 4wd, which is a totally different setup than 2wd. They are lucky, they get to use the car hole for their pivot bracket. Us 2wd guys have to find a bracket. There is about a 1 1/4 inch difference between the aft hole and where the pivot ball needs to be to line up with the frame bracket. I'm sure I could make the sb bracket work with a spacer or shims, but I went one step further and fabbed one out of an old AC bracket, but I would REALLY like to hear from somebody that has the right setup on their 2wd. I am going to post some pics to show people that we are not crazy. Please e-mail me if you can and let me know what you came up with. I will fab you a bracket and send it to you if you want. Let me know if you need any other conversion stuff, I have tons. Take care, Hot Rod

Hot Rod, Thanks for the offer on the bracket ....I may take you up on that.

I'll know in a few days when I get the sb bracket how much fab work/moving of parts I need to do. My Blazer is a 4wd, so I'm curious so see how everthing lines up...your feedback gives me some degree of optimism. I'll definetly let you know either way. Thanks again!

Sent you a PM

I found out that Rick (midyearvet) CONVERTED his to 4wd back in '76. He said he used the stock frame bracket and (the way it sounds) just moved his engine forward so that he could use the aft (car) hole only for his pivot ball. I am really surprised that no bb/4-speed guys have come forward with the correct setup yet. I am going to try to get my computer literate son to post some pictures and then maybe I will re-post at the beginning. I will keep you aprised of my progress, if any. Later, MT
