Horn problem
Today my horn decided to blare non stop. I don't know why but just as I pulled into a parking stall, my horn cap popped off (after market wheel) and the horn started blaring non stop. I pulled the wire off the connector in the steering wheel itself so it would stop. I don't know what to check here. Any idea?

It grounded out somewhere, check everything from the relay up to the horn button. check the wire through the coloumn and see if it got pierced, also check the aftermarket cap kit, if it came loose and shifted thats all it takes....

Mine did the same thing. It turned out to be the relay. If you find that it is the relay, in your case, then be sure to disconnect the relay or it will drain your battery. At first I didn't relate the 2 (in my mind) and ended up buying a new battery charger......after I bought a new battery.

you say aftermarket wheel...you talkin Grant GT with the little plastic horn button?
The button popped off, and then the horn sounded off, right? I'll bet that the wire that goes to your horn button was touching the steering wheel it's self, grounding it, causing it to turn on the horn. As a matter of fact, since you removed this exact same wire and it stopped the horn, it has to be that wire. |

My '72 C10 decided to do the same thing at 2a.m. one morning, many years ago. It was the relay. But like Longhorn said, if disconnecting the wire at the wheel worked, its probably the cheapo button on that steering wheel.

I did the same thing martin 64.. did anyone ever get the horn to work properly? I am still running with mine disconnected. I have half a mind to put the old, big steering wheel back on. Any suggestions?
