Aluminum Radiator ???

What aluminum radiators will fit in these trucks. I don't really want to pay the $500+ for a Be Cool that is custom fit. There has got to be another option. What size do i need to fit in my truck and where can i get it? And is it going to cost me an arm and a leg?

thanks
Jake

Look into a northern radiator. I am not sure about the price though but they are a close to replacement fit. I got mine from a local guy who was needing to get rid of his accumulation of stuff real fast, he needed the cash. It was new and the only mod I had to do was a little grinding on the upper mounts and a little bit on the drivers side of the rad. core support. Fits fine and uses stock rubber mounts.

Do google of Northern Radiator to find their web site....

72fwd, Sorry I missed that post. It sounds like a really good conversion. You should post it in the tech section for future reference. Was it big enough for a big block heat?

Look at this post. I'll probably do a FAQ write up on it when I get it all done...

Hey 68 sbc406, how did that mount. I have another truck im looking at putting that radiator in. Did you do anything to the bottom mounts? Looks like you just have a steel grip/stop from the top. You used it yet? Happy with it if you have?

i got some thick rubber and cut it to fit tight in the bottom of the radiator. then grooved it to the core support bottom. fits good. then used the stock holes and make top brackets. i need more fan. i had to mount the fan off center because there wasnt enough room between it and the water pump. i am either going to make a new fan shroud and put 2 10" fans or i am going to stack 2 7-8" fans on the other side. the only thing i dont like about this radiator is it has no pitcock(sp? drain hole)

i am using the 1 from speedway also. $45 cheaper than summit and looks like the same. supposed to be the equivalent of a 5 row radiator.

I am using a stock radiator from a 1988 Iroc Camaro. My friend has the same exact one in his 7 second 1/8th mile camaro and it cools sweetly all the time. In town or riding down the road. Temps are always right where they should be.

You can get one from Napa (made by Modine) for like 130$ or something close to that. I put one in my 71 and it fit with no modifications what so ever. Just pulled the old heavy and leaking POS out and put this one in. Didn't take long at all.

Check them out.

wHAT ABOUT THE FAN? DID THAT COME WITH IT? I would not think so... Which fan did you choose and which fan would you recommend. They have a lot to choose from.. I figured a duel fan was best.. but I am wooried about getting something too small. Any suggestions about a fan for the radiator that you are using from summit #380331

i dont have enough fan. its one 16" and the shroud blocks too much of the drivers side of the radiator. a dual 10 inch would work well.

I wish I had a pic of his setup. But what it is is two 12" electric straight blade fans that you can get from Summit or Jegs. Nothing special. He just said that he got the ones with the most CFMs possible. Two 12" fans fit perfectly on it and man does it cool.

Sounds good. I am using the same setup in my 71 C-10 and probably will be getting another setup just like it for my drag truck. So If it will cool a blower motor I think it will cool pretty much anything.

Just FYI....My friend pulled out that SBC and put in a 468 BB...Solid lifter cam with a 4000 stall and 4.56 gears. If it will cool that it will cool anything! hahahah
