The GAS won't stop AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I put a rebuilt holley 4150 on a week ago and can't get the fuel to stop
pouring out of the sec. bowls? I have the check plug out trying to adj. the bowls but nothing will stop it. I took the bowl off to see if I left something out but it all looks good. What could this be? It will run with fuel pouring out the sec. check plug at a fast rate but the truck burps and farts bammmmmm bammmm. I'll end up blowing the truck up if I keep this up.

This is a early 70's carb that I really want to work. Everything looks good I
can't see why the gas won't stop. I temped to get a fitting and disconnect the secondary and try it. |

You have got a piece of dirt of lint (or something of the like) between your needle tip and needle seat. It only takes a very ,very small speck. Screw your needle all the way out and wash out and blow dry with air hose.

also might want to try and set your float level with the secondary bowl on the bench, before you put it on the carb. That should get you fairly close. I know with center hung, you set it with the bowl upside down, and center the float. With Side Hung, I'm not 100% sure but the Holley website has the info I'm sure.

I'll take it back off and check. Also I'll search the holley site. Thanks

take your needle seat out and clean it out. with your bowl off and upside down there should be about 1/2 in. gap between top of bowl and float. you can use a 1/2 in. drill bit to get the clearance. hope that helps.

The backfiring is caused by a blown power valve. This is a common Holley problem. They make one now to replace it, you can buy it at Napa. Good luck

So 1 or 2 backfires and your powervalve is blown. Cause it must have done that
20 times bing ping bam! Now that my floats are good I should be able to replace the power valves and be on my way. I hope. ? How do you know they are blown is there a test? Or should I replace both of them. |

If it were me, I'd replace both of them. Holleys are bad for the power valves blowing when it backfires. One little pop is enough to bast one of them.

do yourself a favor and by the power valve blowout protection kits summit and jegs both have them they are a little check ball that you install that stops the power valve from getting blown out
