dana 44 wheel bearing nut spanner socket?
I'm trying to get the hub/rotor off to replace the ball joints-I have the 4 prong tool that gets the lock nut off and right behind that is a round nut with holes around it-looks like there is probably another tool that removes this nut-I tried the punch and hammer and it wouldn't budge and I don't want to screw it up
can someone confirm that there is a special tool for this and where to get one? everywhere in town here says the 4 prong one is the only tool...obviously there's more robert

You have an outer lock nut that you already took off.
Then there is a washer with holes and a tab so it sits in the groove in the spindle. Use 2 small screw drivers or something "L" shaped to get behind it, then slide it out.. then you will have another nut too use your socket on. Take that out and you should be good.. Hope this helps

thanks -I finally got it
there was no washer with a tab like usual-it was a round washer with holes and there was a pin in the rear nut that kept it from turning so it didn't act like a washer and it didn't want to come off either...but it did then I got to fight with the steering arm tapered things...that was fun but I should've known on a 33 year old truck thats never been taken apart robert
