Stock Antenna Question

Are the stock AM/FM and AM antennas the same? If so, were all years 67-72 the same? I need a stock 68 and a 71 if any one has any.
Thanks
Brew.

As far as I know, the antennas were the same for AM and AM/FM. The OE antenna is telescoping and you won't find it reproduced, and a decent used one is hard to find. I bought what Chevyduty sold as a "replacement" antenna 5-6 years ago. It is a fixed mast antenna (GM issue) and fit in the stock cowl hole correctly, and works and looks fine IMO. There was a thread recently about 90's van antennas. The one I got looks exacly like what was pictured there so I assume my GM replacement antenna is a GM van antenna. Anyway, it's not concours resto correct but beats anything you'll find at Autozone, etc.

Here is a pic of the truck it is installed on, sorry no close up for ya

I posted the thread about the van antennas. I got this one from a '91 fullsize chevy van and it worked great.

My 71 is an extension type antenna with a spring on the base. Does anyone else have one of these? Is this an OLD after market Because it is OLD?

I'd say old aftermarket. I sold a 72 burb to VTBlazer that had the OE stock antenna and it's base looks like the fixed mast antenna HuggerCST posted, no spring. I've seen hundreds of spring style and assume they're all 20-30 year old aftermarket units. FYI, from appearances that Van antenna is exacly like the GM replacement I got thru ChevyDuty many moons ago.

Thats what I had on Screamin'. It was like a mile long extended an flopped back and forth goin' down the road.

As far as I could tell it was original. The PO didn't recall replacing it, maybe a dealer add on or something

If your looking for a telescoping antanna replacement, check out a Radio-Shack, type store. I bought a replacement one for a boom-box there, and they seemed to have several differnt sizes. You might find one that you could make work. BUT I'm not sure if there built for blowin in the wind or not?
