rear end ??
I have heard i think on this site that you can use the carrier from a 14ff in our HO72. if that is so what all is needed to do the change? if that the truth then i can buy a locker and gears for a 14ff and install it in my HO72. i can get a set of 4:56 for my rear end but i cant get a locker for it. any info would be great. i would like to keep the rear end in my truck since ive got the 3 link built and installed. thanks for the imput.
Dwayne

How many bolts hold the carrier to the ring gear on a 14 bolt? The eaton uses 12. Are you contemplating a 14b detroit in the eaton? if so you'd keep the eaton carrier and put the 14b detroit in it. The detroits for the eaton and 14 b are drop in style the carrier is the same between the open and detroit equipped trucks. Adam(1969 GMC) is assemblying parts to do this(14b detroit into eaton carrier w/ 14b axles) now.

I believe a 14 b has 14 bolts on the carrier/ring gear, the eaton only has 12, I don't think they'll line up.
