picked up my new project today

left my house at 2 am this morning and made an almost 700 mile round trip to pick up the truck i purchased from cheyenne10 about a month ago. i didnt think i would ever get down there to grab it. i got about halfway there last saturday in my burb and toasted the burbs engine. i had to rent a u-haul and load the burb on the trailer i was pulling. oh btw to the board member that asked if the burb would make it all the way to san diego...the answer is no. (so glad he picked one up from another board member). next week im picking up a 72 cheyenne 3/4 ton. i think its time (maybe ) to slim down my collection of truck stuff....todays truck is the rust free 67/68 air cab truck cheyenn10 was offering up. it's excellent with nice doors, fenders and hood too. it has a 71/72 front suspension. with dropped spindles, and lower coils in the rear. not sure what size on either though. i packed it away with all the rest of my stuff till i figure out some sort of plan of attack....(like that will ever happen)....one day i will probably end up selling all my crap and not have ever gotten to any of it.

Mark, Great looking new project. I was sort of expecting to see the black '72...LOL! You do have some stuff going on there! Let's have a barbeque next weekend at your place...it is close enough to the swap meet...maybe you can move a few items!

very nice member

It was good to meet you today Mark. Good job on the trip home, I'm sure your whipped for the 2nd time. Wife was patiently waiting with kids and a good morning movie. I'm sure she liked the part with more space in carport!!

It looks great in its new home. I bought back one truck a couple years ago and sold it after a few months for what I paid for it to good friend so I could buy that @#*d 4x4. With the 71 to friend I made statement that if it went up for sale once more I would like 1st right to buy back!! Maybe we will deal again.

CG is a very upstanding board member with good communication and prompt payment. Sounds like he has his hands full up north.

Thanks again and take care.

hey bob, yeah i made it home with no problems. we really had that baby tied down good. your wife is a good sport for letting us do this on her day.

as far as plans for this truck i have a ton of stuff for it already but honestly it's way on the back burner. my main reason for picking it up was the fact it has zero rust. and i figured if i never do get around to messing with it i should be able to get my money back out of it...or maybe i could put an obscenly high price on it and drag it over to the swap meet and see what happens.

the 3/4 ton that im picking up next week is top of the list. when i get it reliable and road worthy i will be able to get rid of my ferd 3/4 ton. after that i need to detail my 99 astro van and sell that...i got one of those little scion wagons for bombing around in for work and dont need van anymore. and after that i need to finish a few things on the 71 4x4 so i can get rid of that. and after that i need to fix the annoying electrical problems on my 61 lincoln convert so i can enjoy some summer sun. oh i also have to get rid of the shell and chassis of my other shorty if stllookn doesnt want it. also have to get rid of the old flat bottom boat hull and sell the trailer....maybe after all that i can play with the new shorty project...i need to stick that 427 somewhere =)

oh man i forgot about the 72 burb...i need to stick a motor in that so i can get rid of it also.
