Installing a car seat in our trucks

I was hoping to install a car seat in my truck. The seat has its own straps (one that doubles as the seat belt, and the other secures the top of the car seat on the back). My car has all of the proper mounting points for this, but of course our trucks do not. My truck has a 4 speed so the seat can't go in the middle. If anyone has some advice on how to properly do this please help.

I'm confused...granted, it's been 8 years or so since I had to deal with a child seat, but all the ones we used, the seat belt went through the holes in the back of the unit and the unit's integrated belts held the kid.

Normally the upper strap is optional. Our seat had that option, but none of our cars had the dealio that they hooked too. You do not have to have that part. Just run your seatblet through the back , and secure the lower half real good. That is all you'll need for safety and legality..

Ok, that's good info. I was just unsure about the over the top strap. I also wanted to find out about having the seat on the passenger side like it is.

Thanks for the help.
